Performance Poetry!

We have been looking at performance poetry in literacy and learnt the poem, 'Gran, Can You Rap?

We all learnt a verse and performed it. We thought about the volume of our voice, our actions and how we moved our body. We hope you enjoy it!

We all want to be actors now!

A New Year

We have been extremely busy in 3P already this year. In literacy, we have been looking at story settings. We had to use the following Success Criteria.

To be an engaging writer, we need to:

  • Use adjectives to describe our nouns;

  • Use powerful or juicy words to make our writing interesting;

  • Use our senses to describe what we see, hear, smell, taste or feel.

Here are some examples of our writing.

Aria

Emily

Davina

We went into the environmental area and used it to help us think of some sentences to improve our writing.

Keep an eye on us. This site will be updated soon.

PE - Tennis Coach

On Wednesday we started having tennis lessons with a Sports advisor.

This week we learnt all about accuracy and ball control. First of all we did some relay games where we had to control the tennis ball with a racket. Take a look at some photos!

Science - Investigating effective exercise.

Last week we took part in an investigation to find the most effective exercise.
We chose four different types of exercise. These were walking, running skipping and star jumps. We decided to test each one for three minutes and count how many breaths we took after each exercise. To make sure it was a fair test we kept the length of the exercise and amount of rest the same.

Here is a small video of 2P exercising!!!

Arts Week

This week at Fairlop, it is Arts week. The theme in year 2 is ' Happy and Sad'. Today we were lucky enough to have a happy and sad story created by 'WIZARD STORIES'. It included all of the children in our class and was very funny.

Here are some photos of 2P creating the story.

Beginning to think about the characters and what the problem could be.

Anansi stories

During Literacy last week, we read the Anansi tale called ' Anansi and the Talking Watermelon'. We used the ideas taken from the book and decided to write our own versions.
Here are two....

Anansi and the Singing Banana

Have you ever wondered what life was like being a bored, lonely, lazy and mischievous spider called Anansi?. If you are sitting comfortably I will begin…
Anansi loved playing tricks on Elephant so he thought that it would be funny to make one of the banana’s sing. So when Elephant went to find a hoe he sneaked behind the banana and when Elephant came back from finding the hoe Anansi began singing .
Elephant gasped . He ran straight to Hippopotamus, his best mate. After a while, Hippopotamus and Elephant came sprinting back to Elephant’s garden. But meanwhile Anansi had secretly crawled away because his throat was hurting badly and Elephant looked extremely foolish.

Anansi and the Jumping carrot

Have you ever wondered what life was like as a lazy spider called Anansi.? Well if you are sitting comfortably, I shall begin.
Long, long ago there lived a tigerwho was very proud of his vegetable patch. High above the massive vegetable patch, there was a plum tree and on that plum tree, there lived a spider called Anansi.
Anansi loved to play a trick on tiger. It would be fun to make a carrot jump he said to himself.
At that point, tiger had gone into a massive shed to look for a shiny, brown spade. In a blink of an eye, Anansi got under the ripest, juiciest carrot and started jumping.
Moments later, tiger came back, then something caught his eye, A JUMPING CARROT!

Maths - measuring

During maths this week, we have been weighing different objects in the classroom, finding out how much liquids were in the bottles and investigating whether or not the total length of one of our arms is the same size size as the total of all of our fingers.

Ellie, Oliver and Rhea measure the liquids.

Pravina and Aria measure the length of each others fingers

Shahaab uses the weights to decide how heavy an object would be.
